(MI.i,324/161; Vertue p.26, pl.XV, fig c; Pinkerton p.67, No. 11, pl.XXIII), loop and ring for suspension, very fine and probably unique Estimate £ 12,000-15,000provenance Ex the Hon. W. L. Vane and Lady Katherine Pakenham coll. c.1919 to Lord Inglewood Christie´s, 4 November 1986, lot 465 (where it was described as silver gilt), to Spink Probably struck c. May 1646 when Lord Inchiquin reported to the House of Commons on his military campaigns in Ireland and activities as President of Munster. In an annotated copy of Medallic Illustrations in the library at Spink & Son, the entry for this medal which states that the specimen in the T.M. Whitehead collection contains a specimen in gold, has been amended to silver.
