x Great Britain Postal History Ireland 1922 (11 June) envelope to Monkstown, bearing diagonally bisected "Rialtas" 4d. tied by Cork machine cancellation, the address panel inscribed "No 1/2, 1, 11/2, 2 Stamps available at GPO Cork"; light vertical fold clear of the adhesive and in no way detracting. Fine, clean and attractive. Rare. Note: Although the use of bisected stamps were officially forbidden exceptions were made during times of civil unrest such as the period between 1916 and 1922
