Montenegro Italian Occupation 1943 National Poem issue, a rare assembly with a book containing photographic proofs of all ten values plus the six airmails, each with colour swatch above each denoting the colour selected for issue; also the two sets in complete sheets of forty. The lot also with the original typed letters signed in Cettinge by Captain Menighini or Gianturco Vincenzo stating the amounts of stamps sold or destroyed of the overprinted issue on Yugoslavian stamps. A wonderful and rare archive of hitherto unrecorded material Estimate £ 2,000-2,500Note: The figures stated in the letters are different to those given by Sassone; for example the numbers given for the black overprint 1d.50 are correct at 3500, but does not give the breakdown of 2,118 stamps sold and 1,382 destroyed. There is also documentation that the red overprint on 25p. black and 2d. rose-lilac (neither listed by Gibbons) were issued with 400 stamps printed and sold (less three values destroyed)
