Manchester Manx Society, medals ´for service to the Manx People´ (2), 39mm, [designed by Frank Graves of Peel, pre-World War I), interlocking shields bearing arms of Manchester, triskelion, (unidentified) and ancient ship, son·ta·shiu·ooilley·vraaraghyn below, rev. Viking ship, sun rising behind, panels below with yachts and steamship, in bronzed copper (Q.140) and white metal (Q.141); together with a copper medal with loop, triskelion cut out, obv. motto, rev. engraved to F.S. Graves, Peel (Q.157), Q.140 good extremely fine and attractive, Q.141 extremely fine but with light corrosion and clumsily lacquered, Q.157 very fine and lacquered (3) Estimate £ 90-110Some of these medals were presented to the captain and crew of the Peel fishing boat Wanderer in appreciation of their rescue of 160 passengers from the Lusitania, sunk by torpedo on 7 May 1915 (Quarmby, p.17).
