x Hong Kong, Victoria, pattern 10 Cents, 1862, uniface, in Barton´s Metal, obv. blank, rev. ten cents within wreath, hong – kong 1862 around; the copper core evident on a small portion of the obverse and on the rim (see Pr.243 note), brilliant, light surface marks on obverse, extremely fine / nearly FDC, exceedingly rare, perhaps unique Estimate £ 1,000-1,200Not illustrated or seen by Pridmore, whose entry no. 243 is taken from Hocking (no.3351), where it is recorded as silver gilt. An issue in Barton´s Metal is only noted as a footnote, recorded from the H. A. Parsons sale, Glendining, 13th May 1954, lot 972, as lot 273 above.
