x Hong Kong, Victoria, pattern 10 Cents, 1862, uniface, in Barton´s Metal, obv. blank, rev. 10 cents 1862 within beaded circle and ornamented border; the copper core evident on a small portion of the obverse and on the rim (see Pr.240 note), much brilliance, light surface marks on obverse, extremely fine / nearly FDC, exceedingly rare, perhaps unique Estimate £ 1,000-1,200Not illustrated in Pridmore´s exhaustive work, or seen by him; his entry no. 240 is taken from Hocking´s catalogue of the Royal Mint Museum (no.3349), where it is recorded as silver gilt. An issue in Barton´s Metal is only noted as a footnote, recorded from the H. A. Parsons sale, Glendining, 13th May 1954, lot 972 (bought by Forrer).
