TRANSVAAL 1872 (21 June) blue envelope to Frederick Jeppe, the Postmaster-General of the South African Republic, at Bloemfontein to Pretoria, bearing 1871 6d. rose cancelled with superb barred oval "1" and with equally fine Bloemfontein double-arc d.s. alongside, Potchefstroom (25/6) and Pretoria (2/7) c.d.s. on reverse. Rare and most attractive, being the earliest recorded dates of use of this cancellation and datestamp, and possibly sent on the day that they came into service.
