Wei Hai Wei The China Expeditionary Force 1900 (30 Aug.) India 1a. on 11/2a. stationery card addressed to Scotland and cancelled by a fine strike of type 3, single-circle "base office" c.d.s. The message reads, "Wei Hai Wei ... We got here this morning and are evidently to go on to Peking - but have not official information as yet. Had a very good run from Hong Kong ...". The card has suffered some damage and repair. This is believed to be the earliest military item from Wei-Hai-Wei. The base office moved from Wei Hai Wei on 5th August 1900 and reopened in Hong Kong on 10th August. Photo Estimate HK$ 2,000-3,000
