China Foreign Post Offices Japanese Post Office peking: 1898 (1 Feb.) opened-out envelope addressed to U.S.A. per. "steamer" bearing I.C.P. 2c. and 5c. pair with double perforations between, tied by Peking Dollar chop with Japan Koban 10s. orange-brown tied by "shanghai/i.j.p.o." c.d.s.; the reverse with Shanghai Dollar chop, Yokohama, San Francisco and Valdese c.d.s. The cover is soiled and nearly severed into two, nevertheless a very unusual franking, paying the winter rate surcharge.
