China Provinces Yunnan the burma route: 1903 (Aug.) envelope addressed to London, sent from the British Consulate in Szemao (wax seal on reverse) bearing C.I.P. 1c. and 4c. pairs tied by neat strikes of the Szemao, Yunnanfu postmark with manuscript date insertion and used in combination with India 1a. tied by Bhamo (11/9) c.d.s.; the reverse with postmarks of Hsiakwan (date inserted by hand), Tengyuen dated oval and Sea Post Office c.d.s. A fine and appealing cover from Yunnan. Very scarce, approximately twenty China/India combination covers are known. Ex Edgar Sandler.
