Peace trampling on War (Betts 610; Le Maistre 655; van Loon suppl. 592), extremely fine Estimate £ 100-150Benjamin Franklin, John Jay and John Adams were authorised by the Congress of the United States to negotiate a treaty of peace with Great Britain. Preliminaries were signed at Versailles on 30 November 1782, and the final treaty, which included France, Holland and Spain, was signed on 3 September 1783.
