Trajan, AR Denarius, 2.87g, A.D. 103-111, imp traiano avg ger dac p m tr p cos v p p, draped and cuirassed portrait of Trajan right, with aegis, rev. s p q r optimo principi, Felicitas standing left, holding caduceus and cornucopiae (RIC 172 var. with aegis; RCV -), some metal default, almost extremely fine / extremely fine Estimate £ 150-200This coin seems unrecorded with such a portrait, and it is exceptional for a denarius to have such a clear and distinctive aegis (the small cloak decorated with a gorgon´s head, used by some Emperors on their portraits, associating them therefore with Jupiter and his daugther Minerva). A truly remarkable portrait!
