James VI, Six shilling piece, 2.79g., 1605, ninth coinage, type I, crowned bust in armour right, VI behind, rev. square shield, English arms in first quarter, datre above, reads QVAE DEVS, m.m. thistle (B.3; S.5507), weakly struck on king´s face, slightly off-centre on reverse, otherwise fine for this and legible, extremely rare Estimate £ 150-200A superb run of very rare Scottish dated six shilling pieces, James VI and Charles I, from the Shuttlewood collection was listed in Spink Numismatic Circular, June 2001, nos.SC001-13. This coin appears to be only the third 1605 six shilling piece, the first date of issue, to be offered since 1960
