Charles I (1625-49), Tower mint, Unite, 8.97g., group B, class Ia, second bust with ruff, armour and mantle, wearing larger crown, reads MAG BR FR ET HIB, rev. crowned square-topped lightly garnished shield, m.m. anchor (c.f. Schneider 124; N.2148; S.2690), slightly off-centre, lightly double struck on legend, otherwise almost very fine Estimate £ 600-700The ticket notes that this coin was purchased from Spink for £1-15-0 On the reverse of this coin, outside the outer beading at 2 o´clock, there are clear traces of the reverse shield of an earlier strike. This would have been so off-centre that it is difficult to see how it could have occurred
