Atabeg & early Salghurid (c.12th century), AV Dinars (8) and base AV Dinars (2), including issues of Mankubars (1130-39) and Sunqur (1148-61), some naming caliph Muqtafi and Seljuk ruler Sinjar (1118-1157) as overlord, several with Salghurid tamgha (c.f. MWI.1153, 1157; Album 1923, 1925), only a small portion of most marginal legends visible, generally very fine to extremely fine (10) Two coins illustrated Estimate £ 400-500Following the disintegration of the Seljuk empire, much of Persia became controlled by provincial governors, many of whom had previously been in service under the Seljuks, or were related to them. They were known as Atabegs, and often struck coins showing nominal allegiance to their Seljuk overlords. This, and the subsequent three lots, constitutes one group of dinars, struck in S.W. Iran by the Atabegs of Fars, and their successors, the Salghurids. An under-researched and scarce series, with many unrecorded types, they represent an interesting study group.
