The Two Gold Royal Visit Medals to Captain Sir Bryan Godfrey-Faussett, G.C.V.O., C.M.G., R.N. Duke and Duchess of York Visit to the British Colonies 1901, gold, 28mm. x 20mm., edge inscribed ´B. Godfrey-Faussett. Comr. R.N. A.D.C.´, extremely fine; Prince and Princess of Wales Visit to India 1905-06, gold, 28mm. x 20mm. (Puddester 905.1.1), very fine, both medals rare, Puddester notes only 26 gold medals for the 1905-06 visit to India were issued. (2) Estimate £ 600-800Captain Sir Bryan Godfrey-Faussett G.C.V.O., C.M.G., Royal Navy (1876-1945), Equerry-in-Ordinary to King George V 1901-36, and King Edward VIII 1936, and Extra Equerry to King George VI 1937-45, educated at Stubbington School, Portsmouth, and joined the Royal Navy training ship Britannia 1877; Midshipman 1879; Lieutenant 1887; Commander 1899; accepted an invitation from Prince George to act as his aide-de-camp during his visit to the Colonies 1901; appointed Equerry-in-Ordinary to Prince George, now the Prince of Wales, 1901; accompanied the Prince and Princess of Wales on a visit to India 1905-06; Captain, and placed on the Admiralty´s retired list 1909; continued to act as naval Equerry and Equerry-in-Ordinary to King George V and King Edward VIII and as Extra-Equerry to King George VI until his death in September 1945. The Royal Visit 1901 The visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York to the British Colonies, March to November 1901, embraced Ceylon, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. The now ageing Victoria and Albert II was clearly not capable of a voyage of nearly 4,000 miles, and the Royal party travelled in the chartered Orient Liner Ophir, Commodore A.L. Winsloe C.M.G., C.V.O., R.N. The Ophir was also featured on the reverse of the Transport Medal 1903.
