Oak Leaves (2. Lieut. C.H. Hersee), the trio a later, although, probably original issue, good very fine or better (3) Estimate £ 100-120Second Lieutenant Charles Henry Hersee, born 1896, in Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland; enlisted 4th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment Territorial Force, 9.2.1914; served in the Great War in Gallipoli (Dardanelles) from August 1915; Sergeant 1.2.1916; commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Field, 15.10.1917 (M.I.D. 1.3.1917; 6.7.1917); wounded at Khueilfeh (Palestine Front), 4.11.1917, "The Board find that he is suffering from a gun shot wound of the left shoulder. The bullet entered the back of the shoulder....fracturing the humerus" (Medical Board Report refers).
