A Peninsular War and Waterloo Pair to Lieutenant Colonel the Right Honourable Lord Charles Fitzroy, M.P., Grenadier Guards and D.A.A.G., later Vice Chamberlain of the Household Military General Service 1793-1814, eight clasps, Corunna, Badajoz, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (Lord Charles Fitzroy, Ensn. 1st Foot Gds. & D.A.A.G.); Waterloo 1815 (Captain Lord Cha. Fitzroy, 1st Guards.), with contemporary steel clip and later German ring suspension, edge bruise to first, slight contact wear, generally very fine and rare (2). Estimate £ 5,500-6,500Lieutenant Colonel the Right Honourable Lord Charles Fitzroy, M.P., born 28.02.1791, second son of George Henry, 4th Duke of Grafton, K.G., Vice Admiral; educated at Harrow. Joined the 1st Foot Guards as Ensign in June 1807, served at Corunna 16.1.1809 and in the Walcheren Expedition. In 1811 joined Lord Hill´s Staff, served at Badajoz 17-18.3.1812, Vittoria 21.6.1813, the Pyrenees 25.7-2.8.1813, Nivelle 10.11.1813, Nive 9-13.12.1813, Orthes 27.2.1814, and Toulouse 10.4.1814, latterly as a regimental Lieutenant and Captain, acting as D.A.A.G.
Again as D.A.A.G. present at Waterloo and afterwards with the Army of Occupation, promoted Brevet Major, June 1815; Lieutenant Colonel, January 1919. Following short appointments to the 55th and 27th Regiments, retired on half pay, finally selling out in 1834.
Member for Thetford between 1818 and 1832, and for Bury St. Edmunds from 1832 until 1847, in addition to acting as Vice Chamberlain of the Houshold from June 1835 until May 1838. For a short period in the late 1820´s he was Inspecting Field Officer of Militia in the Ionian Islands. He married, in 1825, Lady Anne Cavendish, daughter of the 1st Earl Burlington, became a Privy Counsellor in 1835 and died at Hampton on 17.6.1865, on the eve of the 50th anniversary of Waterloo.
