A Sergeant´s or Piper´s Plaid Brooch of the 91st Highlanders A rare example, the white metal quoit, 4in. diameter, by Marshall & Sons, 87 George St, Edinburgh, engraved with XCI and HIGHLANDERS between thistle sprays, the reverse stamped with maker´s name and address See illustration Estimate £ 150-200This item dates from 1863, when the 91st Regiment were given the title "Highlanders", to 1872 when they received the additional title of "Princess Louise´s" and incorporated the Boar´s Head and motto "Ne obliviscaris" on pipers´ plaid-brooches (see Lot 56 below)
