An Officer´s Plaid Brooch of the 79th Highlanders A thistle-wreath, 2 7/8in. diameter, finely chased in white metal, the voided centre mounted with the Sphinx on a tablet inscribed LXXIX, with a scroll bearing PENINSULA above and one bearing WATERLOO beneath. See illustration Estimate £ 160-240The inscription LXXIX on the tablet was changed to EGYPT with the abolition of regimental numbers in 1881.
