Egypt 1882-89, dated, two clasps, The Nile 1884-85, Abu Klea, both copy clasps (22937. Gunnr. J. Griffiths. 5/1st Sco: Div: R.A.), good very fine Estimate £ 80-10022937 Gunner J. Griffiths, 5th/1st Scots Division Royal Artillery; enlisted as John McDonald 1876; Gunner Griffiths was serving in Malta with the London Division Royal Artillery at the time of the expedition leading to the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir, and stowed away on a transport bound for Egypt, he was subsequently discovered and spent his active service in Egypt in prison.
