Prentice, Bengal Arty.), suspension loose, obverse brooch mounted, fine; Delhi (Dan O´ Callaghan Surgeon Bengal Artillery), renamed, although underlying naming suggests that the medal was the recipient´s original issue, claw tightened, very fine (2) Estimate £ 140-160Deputy Inspector General Daniel James O´ Callaghan, born 1814; Assistant Surgeon Royal Navy, 1839-41; posted to Bengal 1842; served in the Sutlej War 1845-46; Surgeon 1855; served in the Indian Mutiny 1857-58 and is listed as entitled to Medal with Delhi clasp; served in China 1860-61, entitled to Medal and clasp; Deputy Inspector General 1868; retired 1872; Author of ´The Fatal Falter at Meerut 1881´; died 1900.
