Hon. the Speaker), good very fine, with later silver clip and split ring suspension Estimate £ 1,200-1,500Royal Mint minute 03.06.1816 "The Master of the Mint has directed Waterloo Medals to be struck in Fine Silver, and to be presented as a Gift by him to the persons undermentioned. On the edge of the Medal is to be inscribed ´The Gift of the Master of the Mint to the Earl of Liverpool´ and so of the rest according to the name:

The Speaker at the time was Charles Abbot, later 1st Baron Colchester (1757-1829). Although the medal refers to his Office, it was in fact awarded to him personally, and has never formed part of the Speaker´s official regalia.
