BURMA The Chin Hills District After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. Mc.Call, District Commisioner, Lushhai Hills at Aijal The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India By July stamps overprinted "service" had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved Falam 1942 (15 July) envelope from Capt. W. Smart, Chin Hills Bttn., Burma Frontier Force, to his wife in Delhi and redirected to Dehra Dun, bearing 2a. cancelled with fine double-ring d.s. in violet and with a further strike alongside initialled by A.G. Mc.Call, the reverse (small faults) with Aijal c.d.s., Delhi and arrival slogan d.s. A fine and early cover from the area after the Japanese Occupation. Photo Estimate £ 300-400
