Egypt 1882-89, undated, one clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (School Mr. D.M Gooding. 2/Essex. R.), light obverse contact marks, otherwise good very fine Estimate £ 350-400 Schoolmaster Warrant Officer David Mackinlay Gooding, born 1850 in Lochsteric, Edinburgh, enlisted as a Student 1871 and is given as Schoolmaster December 1872; his many postings included Devonport Grrison 1873, 13 Brigade R.A. 1873-75, Dalhousie, 1/17th Foot, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Muttra Cavalry Depot, 56th Regiment 1880-85, Assouan 1884- promoted Warrant Officer December that year, 19th P.W.O. Hussars 1885 and to General Staff 1888; Mr Gooding was discharged 23.12.1893.
