China 1857-60, one clasp, Taku Forts 1860 (Corpl. Jas. Clinton. 44th Regt.), claw re-affixed, contact marks, edge bruising, therefore nearly very fine; together with Clinton´s original parchment Discharge Certificate and Royal Hospital Chelsea, Out Pensioner´s Certificate (both 1861) Estimate £ 350-400 Corporal James Clinton, born St Phillip and Jacob, Somerset, attested for the 44th Regiment, 1852, under age; served in the Crimea and was present at Alma, Balaclava, and Sebastopol; Corporal 11.4.1860; was severely wounded by a musket ball at the siege of the Taku Forts in China 21.8.1860, resulting in the amputation of his left leg above the knee; discharged 14.4.1861 due to his disability, admitted as Out Pensioner, Royal Hospital Chelsea the same day, and was awarded a pension of One Shilling and Threepence per diem.
