Army of India 1803-26, short hyphen reverse die, one clasp, Ava (Surgn. W.Daunt, M.D. 44th Foot), nearly extremely fine, with silver riband buckle Estimate £ 1,200-1,400 Surgeon William Daunt M.D. (Edinburgh), became Hospital Assistant 1807 and was present at the Capture of Madiera 1807; advanced to Assistant Surgeon March 1808 with the 25th Foot; transferred to the 70th Foot October that year, and was present in Martinique, 1809 (entitled to M.G.S., one clasp, Martinique, unique to the 70th Foot); Surgeon Canadian Fencible Infantry May 1814; 58th Foot August 1815; 44th Foot 1824; 7th Hussars 1836; 6th Dragoons 1838; retired 1844 and died at Bath, June 1871.
