Impressive 1914 Mussolini "Avanti!" Broadside.
A large (38" by 14") black on pink paper broadside announcing that Mussolini will speak on the occasion of the inauguration of the flag of the local chamber of commerce. At the time, Mussolini was the director of "Avanti!," a newspaper initially based in Rome. The paper advocated neutrality, but while Mussolini became director he infused it with his own militarist attitudes. Printed on thin pink paper meant to last for a few days at most, this broadside, very fine except for a few small fold splits and light stains, is a miracle of survival.
