Costa Rica. Republica. 500 Colones, 2003. Thin Numerals. Arms, rev. Value, including in Braille, above coffee branches and initials of the Banco Central de Costa Rica. KM 239.2. Struck at the Santiago, Chile mint, the thin numeral type was rejected by Costa Rica, but the small group of rejected coins was apparently mixed in with the accepted thick numeral type and sent to Costa Rica. Only 100 thin numeral types are believed to have been minted. Very rare. NGC Unc Details, rev. scratched (upper left field).
