Great Britain Cancellations ´1844´ Numerals - Black 1841 1d., unplated, HL, margins nearly all round, on part entire addressed to Stratford upon Avon, tied by very fine strike of the black ´848´ numeral of Warwick, the reverse with fine dispatch and arrival datestamps of 1 May 1844; some light creasing though not detracting from the fine appearance and opens-out nicely for display. Extremely rare – the 1st May 1844 was the first official day of use for the new numeral cancellation series. Photo Estimate £ 750-850
