Henry VIII (1509-47), posthumous issue under Edward VI, Half-sovereign, Tower mint, king with youthful portrait seated facing on throne, holding sceptre, rose below, henric 8 d g agl fra z hib rex, rev. crowned shield with lion and dragon supporters, HR monogram below, Roman lettering, pellet/saltire stops, m.m. martlet (c.f. Schneider 660; N.1865; S.2391), faint star scratched in obverse field, lightly double struck in parts of legend, otherwise with a clear portrait, very fine The neat little cross pattee stops on the reverse of this coin are unusual, Whitton p.86. There is no example in the Schneider collection, and only one, from the same reverse die, in the British Museum
