An Edwardian Chapka of the 5th Lancers A Trooper's lance cap, bearing a post-1902 5th Lancers brass plate, now fitted with a black cloth upper part of 9th Lancers pattern, with brass angle-pieces and black horsehair plume, the brass plume-socket attached to a boss formed of coiled gold cord mounted with a green woollen tuft behind a regimental brass button, the inside of cap stencilled with issue-numbers 3400 (deleted) and 3679, narrow brass chinchain with leather lining (upper part of cap fixed to skull with glue, the join concealed by a strip of gold lace (probably from an officer's sword-sling), two angle-pieces broken, the other two missing, one chin-chain rosette probably from a cloth helmet, hook-and-ring unit missing) Estimate £ 50-80
