†Punjab 1848-49, one clasp, Goojerat (Lieut. A.R.E. Hutchinson, 13th Bengal N.I.), contact marks, otherwise good very fine Estimate £ 500-600 Major A.R.E. Hutchinson, Ensign 13th Native Infantry, 1843; Lieutenant 1846; served in the Punjab Campaign 1848-49; Captain 1857; Assistant Political Officer, Nerbudda Field Force, in the operations against Dhar, 1857; commanded two Guns, one Troop of Cavalry, and two Companies of Infantry, to operate against the rebel Rajah of Amghera. With these forces he destroyed the Hill Fort of Lall Ghur, and captured the Rajah (Mentioned in the Minute of the Governor General during the rebellion); Political Officer (August 1858), with the Force under General Michel, at the action near Rajhghur (Mentioned in Despatch 15.9.1858); received acknowledgment of services from General Michel (17.9.1858), and the thanks of the Governor General; Political Officer with the Force under Colonel Somerset and Colonel Benson, December 1858 (Mentioned in Despatch 29.12.1858); Brevet-Major 1858.
