Abyssinia 1867-68 (2), (Captn. J.H. Fawcett. 2. Bn. 1st Regt.), (Captain J.H. Fawcett Staff), an interesting double claim, nearly extremely fine or better (2) Estimate £ 500-550 Major John Hodgeson Fawcett, born 28.2.1835; entered the 1st Foot as Ensign 1854; Lieutenant 1855; Captain 1865; Captain Fawcett served as Adjutant 1st Foot and afterwards as Staff Officer with the Berar Column which took the field to oppose the entrance of Tantia Topee and Feroze Shah into the Deccan. Served throughout the Abyssinian Campaign as a Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General and was present at the action of Arogee and capture of Magdalla (Mentioned in Despatches, London Gazette 30.6.1868), advanced to Major 1876 and placed on half pay.
