(U.) for Totnes Div. Devon 1885-1922; served in South Africa 1899-1902; embarked for France 21.12.1914 (Mentioned in Despatches four times 1.1.1916; 15.6.1916; 11.12.1917; 5.7.1919); President of both the Hunters Improvement and Light Horse Breeding Societies, 1922 and 1937; one of the three members of the Privy Council appointed by the Prime Minister to scrutinise the list of Political Honours before it was submitted to His Majesty, 1923-24; President of the Royal Agricultural Society 1932, 1941-43; and of Veterinary Committee of the same; Member of Executive Council of the Royal Veterinary College; Treasurer of the Medical Research Council; Member of the Civil List Committees at the Accessions respectively of King Edward VII, and King George V; Executive Committee and President of National Unionist Association, 1922. Lord Mildmay died 8.2.1947.
