Kent Rgt.); King's South Africa, two clasps; Africa General Service Medal 1902-56, one clasp, Somaliland 1902-04, extremely fine, with related group of three miniature awards (3) Estimate £ 450-500 Lieutenant Eric Dalbiac Luard (1878-1903); Commisioned Second Lieutenant from Militia and joined 2 Royal West Kents, 1898; Lieutenant 1899; served in South Africa including the actions at Biddulphsberg and Wittebergen July 1900; attached to 2 King's African Rifles, Somaliland 1903, and died of Enteric fever at Garrero, November 1903. He was the son of Major-General Charles Edward Luard, Royal Engineers, and brother of Major Charles Elmhirst Luard D.S.O., Norfolk Regiment
