Great Britain 1840 One Penny Black Plate 1a FD, good to large margins, on envelope originally sent unstamped from Cambridge to Newmarket, Suffolk, used to pay redirection to London, the adhesive affixed partly over the Cambridge despatch datestamp (22 May 1840), cancelled by carmine-red Maltese Cross with corresponding Newmarket datestamp at left in the same colour, rated “1” in manuscript; fine and extremely attractive.
