BMC 115; N.464; S.964), some dark deposit on surface, otherwise deeply toned and well struck on a full round flan, good very fine, an extremely rare and interesting coin Estimate £ 2,500-3,000 Another Viking piece by the moneyer Herewulf, struck from the same obverse die and a different but very similar reverse die, was listed in Spink Numismatic Circular, October 1989 (5349) ex the Lockett collection, lot 2703.
