Italy. The Virgin and St. John with the Body of Christ. Rectangular plaquette, ca. 1700. White Metal, 111.8 x 150mm, thickly cast. The radiant Christ lies prone before the nimbate figures of the Virgin and St. Joseph, a wide-armed cross behind in a scroll-pattern field; ornate borders.

A later 18th cast derived from an embellished mold with scroll ornaments and a decorative border added (earlier casts show a plain background with a wide margin). Apparently unpublished. Extremely Fine.
