Great Britain. Ghuznee Medal 1839. THOS. COOGAN 4TH LIGHT DRAGOONS engraved on back. Sergeant Thomas Coogan, 12th Royal Lancers served for 20 years and 175 days; twelve of those years in the East Indies and two of those years in the Sind and Afghanistan. Born in St. Finbar's, County Cork, Ireland, he enlisted for the 4th Light Dragoons at Dublin, at age 20, April 24, 1827. Promoted to Sergeant in 1832, he was reduced to Private May 8, 1839 for disobedience of orders; joined 12th Royal Lancers in 1842, promoted to corporal in 1844, then sergeant in February 1847. He was discharged for medical reasons October 1847. On ribbon. Some light rim dings, once lightly polished over contact marks. Extremely Fine.
