Bronze, 106mm. .CAROLVS.GRATVS.MILES.ET.COMES.BONONIENSIS., Elderly bust of Grati left with long hair, wearing a round cap with the backflap turned up, a gorget and plate armor, rev. .REC-ORDATVS.MISERI CORDIE.SVE, An armored Grati kneeling right before a wayside cross, his cap and sword on the ground, his horse behind; a mounted squire at left holding a lance, signed below: .OPVS.SPERANDEI. Hill 392; Pollard 111; Bargelo 149. The Morgenroth lead specimen seems to be the model from which most bronze casts derive. Minor dark areas. An About Extremely Fine old cast.
