Iran. Qajar. Muhammad Hasan Khan (AH 1163-1172/ 1750-1759 AD). Posthumous. Gold ¼ Mohur, Tabriz AH 1173. 2.75 gm. be-zar sekkeh az meymanat zad qaza /be-nam-e `Ali ebn-e Musa al-Reza, mint and date below, rev. Shi`ite Kalima, date above. A.2826. Chief of the Qoyunlu branch of the Qajar tribe of Turkoman from the Caspian coastlands, and founder of the Qajar dynasty, Muhammad Hasan Khan was defeated and killed in Mazandaran in early 1759. His posthumous issues from Tabriz are believed to have been struck under the authority of the self-appointed governor of Tabriz, Qajar ally Fath `Ali Khan Afshar. Extremely Rare. Extremely Fine.
