Cossutius Massidianus, with Julius Caesar (February - March 44 BC), Posthumous Issue, AR Denarius, April 44 BC, Rome, CAESAR [PARE]NS • PATRIAE, veiled and wreathed head of Caesar right, apex behind head, lituus before chin, rev. C•COSSVTIV[S] MARIDI-ANVS in saltire, A A A F•F in angles, 3.94g, 8h (RRC 480/19; Sydenham 1069), struck on an elliptical elongated flan with peripheral striking softness below bust, and the reverse heavily off-struck, otherwise a wondrous coin, the portrait breathtakingly sharp and further accentuated by electrifying blue tone, a truly remarkable coin issued in the weeks immediately following the downfall of the Classical world's most enduring Dictator
