FRANCE NIGHT BRITAIN, figures of Night and Tempest shield France from the thunder of Britain, FRANCE • RELINQVISHES THE • SEA S • P • A • C in exergue in three lines, edge plain, 40mm, 29.79g, 11h (Eimer 676; MI ii 706/441; MH 1919, 364; Stuart II), black mark to left of Britannia, otherwise lightly toned in hues of ochre, a most attractive example, good extremely fine and much as struck, rare in this wholesome state
