Hunsaker, Jerome Clarke (1886-1984). Naval airman, President of Goodyear-Zeppelin Co., Head of MIT's Mechanical Engineering Dept., designed first modern airship built in the U.S., Chairman of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (1941-1956). Pair of Letters Signed "J C Hunsaker" as Commander (CC), U.S.N. Both typed on American Embassy, Office of the Naval Attache, London letterhead, 19 January 1926. The first, five pages, internal correspondence is Hunsaker's point by point report on the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. Hunsaker met with the British delegation the night before the meeting to go over strategy. At the meeting "The French and Italian delegates opened the attack on the Schneider Rules as expected", each of their proposals was actively opposed by Col. O'Gorman (head of the British delegation); Hunsaker proposed a motion that there be no changes to the basic Schneider Cup Race rules; the motion was carried. Hunsaker signs on the fourth page and again below on the 1st endorsement. Captain William W. Galbraith signs the 2nd endorsement as Head of Naval Intelligence and early naval aviator Newton H. White, Jr. signs the third endorsement on page 5. In the second letter, one page, Hunsaker writes to NAA President Godfrey Cabot. He tells him about the FAI Executive Committee meeting "succeeded in stopping changes in rules of the Schneider Seaplane Race, but could not succeed in obtaining official homologation of Rodgers record" (Cabot had written previously to Hunsaker regarding the flight of Comdr. Rodgers). The letter includes copies of Hunsaker's report to the Naval Attaché, FAI letters of 12 January 1926 and Alusna cablegrams; also included is a B&W USN photo of Hunsaker.
