Russo-Polish. 1831 Post Polish Uprising. Order of Virtuti Militari. Cross. 5th Class. Russian type (Polski Znak Honorowy "Polish Sign of Honor"). Silver, 29mm. "REX ET PATRIA 1831" on back medallion. After the defeat of the 1830-1831 Polish Uprising, the Tsar abolished the original Polish Virtuti Militari Order and banned its use. At the end of 1831, it was replaced with "the Polish Sign of Honor", which was awarded only to Russian officers who served in the Battle of Warsaw and Russians in the service of Tsarist authorities. On ribbon. Small slash on eagle's wing. Very Fine.
