Great Britain. York Minster Reliquary Snuff Box, 1829. 5 ¼" diameter. By G. Fossett, York (on inside lid). Made from the Ruins of the York Minster. Top inset with engraved 41mm silver medallion depicting crossed keys with vital dates 626 (first wooden structure), 1137 (damaged by fire) and 1829 (damaged by fire) above images of the arsonist Jonathan Martin - "What I was" (standing figure), "What I am" (Martin in chains), "What I ought to be" (Martin on the gallows). Very Fine.
