Bust left of Gouraud who served as the representative of the French government in the Middle East from 1919 to 1923 and Commander of the Army of the Levant, rev. View of Baalbek, Lebanese and Syrian Federation Arms below. Commander of the French Fourth Army during World War I and of French forces in the Franco-Turkish War (Cilician Campaign), Gouraud presided over the creation of the French mandates in Syria and Lebanon. A few tiny reverse spots. Extremely Fine.
