A Collection of Original Images, Newsreel Photos, and Cabinet Cards Relating to the Shahs of Persia (Iran) from 1848 to 1979. Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, King of Persia 1848-1896. Reigned for 50 years and was the first modern Iranian monarch to formally visit Europe. Cabinet card 65 x 105 mm, in military uniform, mounted on a white horse; Similar, portrait facing left, in oval frame; Similar sepia cabinet card, seated, his uniform resplendent with orders and holding a sword; Similar, standing, with Bacard Brothers, Paris imprint, and the identical image without the imprint; seated, entitled "Shah of Persia" by Searle Brothers; Similar, entitled "Schah v Persien 1323;" Similar, medium size 110 x 155 mm, seated in double-breasted unadorned jacket, "NEGRETTI & ZAMBRA" Crystal Palace, Sydenham, with pencil notation on back "…delegation to Europe 1873, 1878;

Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar, King of Persia 1896-1907. Credited with creating the Persian Constitution. Small cabinet card 61 x 115 mm., seated, facing left, entitled "MOUZAFFER-ED-DINE / SHAH OF PERSIA", red border and text; Similar, in horse drawn carriage, Schweizer & Co. postcard with scalloped edges, 140 x 90 mm.
Mohammad Ali Shah (1872-1925). Sixth king of the Qajar Dynasty and Shah of Persia (Iran) from 8 January 1907 to 16 July 1909. He is infamous for bombarding the Majles (Persian parliament) with the military and political support of Russia and Britain. In July 1909, pro-Constitution forces marched from Persia's provinces to Tehran, deposed the Shah, and re-established the constitution. On 16 July 1909, the parliament voted to place Mohammad Ali Shah's 11-year-old son, Ahmad Shah on the throne. The note on the back of pic is about his travel to Hotel Shelborne, Brighton Beach with companions. According to our consignor, this photo is unique and never seen in any other collection. Most of the items are tipped into an old photograph album. While many are in excellent condition, some of the corner mounts have become loose, and some of the images have mounting remnants on the backs.
