Queen Liliuokalani (1838-1917). First queen and last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Ascended throne on her brother's death in 1891, attempted to draft new Constitution which would have restored the power of the monarchy and the voting rights of the economically disenfranchised; overthrown by pro-American coup d'etat and the landing of the U.S. Marines, abdicated 1895, composer of Aloha Oe and numerous other works. Royal Document Signed by Liliuokalani as Queen "Liliuokalani R." 18 x 11 ½", March 7, 1891. Appointment of Charles B. Wilson as a Member of the Queen's Privy Council of State. Royal Arms on green above. Embossed Royal Arms on red adhesive seal lower left. Signed by Liliuokalani lower right and Samuel Parker as Minister of Foreign Affairs at left. Bifold. Fine. In heavy frame with beaded edge, 28 1/8 x 21 ¾".
